About Us
Who is behind Bookspot Cafe?
Bookspot Cafe was born from a core childhood memory of mine - sitting on the floor in the aisles of the popular bookshop, Angus and Robertson, with a book picked off their shelves, whilst my Mum did the groceries on a Saturday morning. I was either discovering the latest read to pester my Mum to let me bring home, or diving back into the current book I was reading at home just because I couldn’t bare not to read for an hour or two.
It’s this particular memory of childhood that drove me to create Bookspot Cafe, to allow a safe space for someone else to sit on the floor (but really, preferably a comfy chair!) and get lost in another world whilst sitting smack bang in the middle of the whirlwind we call reality.
So, hello there, and welcome to Bookspot Cafe! My name is Allanah, and you’ll still find me with my head stuck in a book, whether that be at home, in a bookshop, in the middle of a really busy restaurant, or simply off with the fairies dreaming of another world.
Whether you’re on the hunt for your latest read, or looking for a particular book you can’t find anywhere, Bookspot is the place for you. If you are unable to find what you’re looking for, please reach out to us and we will help find it for you!
The support behind Bookspot Cafe
Hey, hi, hello, my name is Jake - swiping right nearly 10 years ago has led me here, the helpful husband.
When we finally got married after four attempts (thanks again COVID) I had said in my speech for Lana to follow her dream and pursue her life goal - to one day own a bookstore with it's own little cafe.
Over the past 2 years of getting to where we are now, I have delved deep into the world of smu... ah fantasy and I'll be honest, I have been enjoying it more than I originally thought I would. I can definitely say I am well versed in the Maasverse and the Grishaverse! I definitely have a lot more to catch up on but I'm getting there - feel free to shoot me a recommendation, and I’ll add it to the TBR.
So you'll find me out the back doing the heavy lifting, helping out where I can, listening to the latest reads (anyone else really keen for Onyx Storm!?) and gaming (big fan of God of War, The Last of Us, Horizon, The Witcher, Cyberpunk… I could go on but you get the gist)
Feel free to reach out to us, we’re happy to help wherever we can!
